For all Government employees, salary packaging is an extremely useful tax-management strategy. You may wish to salary package work-related items, such as your motor vehicle, for your financial benefit.

Redundancies & Bonuses

You may be in the position of receiving a redundancy or large bonus, either now or in the future. This type of financial windfall needs careful management to ensure a major part of it isn't lost in tax.

Frequently Asked Questions

Financial planning is a holistic approach to managing your finances to achieve your financial goals. It involves assessing your current financial situation, setting goals, and developing and implementing strategies to achieve those goals. Financial planning can help you make informed financial decisions, maximize wealth accumulation, minimize financial risk, and achieve financial security.

Our goal is to give you the best possible plan to suit your current lifestyle and to help you reach the lifestyle you want to achieve. We use a comprehensive approach to managing your finances by taking into account your current needs and long-term goals.

The specific components of a financial plan will vary depending on your individual circumstances and goals. However, all financial plans should include the following:

  1. A clear understanding of your current financial situation.
  2. Specific financial goals.
  3. A plan to achieve your goals.
  4. A way to track your progress.
  5. A way to adjust your plan as needed

By developing a financial plan, you can identify your financial strengths and weaknesses, set realistic financial goals, and implement strategies to achieve those goals. This can help you achieve financial security by saving money, reducing debt, investing wisely, and protecting your assets.

Working with a financial planner can provide peace of mind and financial security. Managing your finances can be stressful, but a financial planner can provide guidance and support. We understand that money can be emotional and psychological, so we cut through the complexity and clarify your options, so you can make informed decisions.

We have two types of fees:

Plan FeeWe offer a free initial consultation to all new clients. This allows us to get to know you and your financial goals so that we can provide you with the best possible advice. If you decide to move forward with our services, we will charge a plan fee to cover the cost of preparing your financial plan. The exact cost of the plan fee will vary depending on the complexity of your financial situation.

Annual Engagement ServiceThis fee covers our services for the next 12 months and is on top of our plan fee. As part of this service, we will provide you with an annual review of your portfolio, financial situation, goals, and how your financial plan is working. Depending on your circumstances, we may recommend changes to your financial plan. The cost of the annual engagement service will also vary depending on the complexity of your financial situation.

We understand that financial planning can be a big investment, so we want to make sure that you are comfortable with our fees before we begin working together. Both fees will be quoted to you in the initial consultation.

The terms “financial adviser” and “financial planner” are often used interchangeably in Australia, but there is a subtle difference between the two. Financial planners take a more comprehensive and holistic approach to financial planning, considering a broader range of factors and offering a wider array of services. When choosing a financial professional, it is important to evaluate their qualifications, experience, and services offered, rather than relying solely on their title.

  • Expertise: Financial planners have the knowledge and experience to help you make sound financial decisions.
  • Guidance: They can help you set financial goals and create a plan to achieve them.
  • Discipline: Financial planners can help you stay disciplined with your finances and make sure you are on track to reach your goals.
  • Peace of mind: Knowing that you have a financial planner who is looking out for your best interests can give you peace of mind.
  • Value: Financial planners can save you time, money, and stress by helping you make the most of your financial resources.

Yes. As of 1 January 2019, new education and training standards apply to financial advisers and planners. This is part of the professional standards for financial advisers set in place by ASIC.

Financial advisers/planners are now required to:

  • Have an approved qualification
  • Pass the financial adviser exam
  • Participate in 40 hours of continuing professional development (CPD) each year
  • Comply with the Financial Planners and Advisers Code of Ethics 2019 (Code of Ethics) – a set of principles and core values in the areas of ethical behaviour, client care, quality process and professional commitment.
  • Complete a full-time professional year that includes at least 1,500 hours of work activities and 100 hours of structured training (a total of 1,600 hours).

Find out more about certification requirements for financial advisers and planners here.

  • Do your research. Before you start interviewing financial planners, take some time to learn about the different types of advisors and what they offer. You should also research the advisors themselves, including their experience, qualifications, and fees.
  • Get referrals from friends, family, or colleagues. This is a great way to find financial planners who are reputable and have a good track record.
  • Ask the right questions. When you’re interviewing financial planners, be sure to ask about their investment philosophy, their fees, and how they will communicate with you. You should also ask about their experience with clients who have similar financial goals as you.
  • Be prepared to ask and answer questions. Whoever you choose to hire, make sure that you’re comfortable with them! You will be sharing with them very important information, not just financial but also personal details so that a custom plan can be made just for you. Having a good relationship with your financial planner is fundamental.
